At Sawyer Marine we offer full service and parts for Yamaha and Mercury engines, including all 2 Stroke and 4 Stroke Outboards as well as Inboard/Outdrives. In addition to Spring Commission and Winter Servicing we offer shrink wrap and storage services.

Spring Commission

Spring Commission for Outboard engines includes:

  • REPLACE SPARK PLUGS
  • INSPECT FUEL SYSTEM FOR LEAKS
  • CHECK TIMING BELT FOR CRACKS
  • START & RUN ENGINE AND ADJUST IDLE
  • REPLACE ANODES
  • LOAD TEST BATTERY – INSPECT TERMINALS
  • CHECK IGNITION TIMING
  • CHECK ALL BOLTS AND FITTINGS FOR TIGHTNESS
  • INSPECT POWER TILT & TRIM ON APPLICABLE MODELS
  • CHECK AND ADJUST SHIFT AND THROTTLE CABLES AS NEEDED

Note: For outboard engines that were not serviced in the winter, we strongly recommend that the oil and oil filter be replaced, the fuel filter be cleaned, the lower unit oil be replaced and the lower unit be pressure tested.

Spring Commission for Inboard/Outdrives includes:

  • REPLACE SPARK PLUGS IF NEEDED
  • START & RUN ENGINE AND CHECK TIMING
  • INSPECT IGNITION SYSTEM AND ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS
  • REPLACE ANODES
  • LOAD TEST BATTERY
  • CHECK AND ADJUST BELT TENSION
  • CHECK HOSES FOR LEAKS
  • CHECK STEERING AND CONTROLS
  • GREASE ALL FITTINGS
  • CHECK MERCATHODE
  • CHECK ALL FLUIDS AND TOP OFF

Note: For Inboard/Outdrives that were not serviced in the winter we also strongly recommend changing the oil and filters, changing lower unit oil, pressure checking the lower unit, inspection of the bellows and lube of the gimbal bearing.
