Whether a first time buyer or a seasoned boater, we have included links that may be of interest! Also, be sure to read the National Marine Manufacturers Association tips for boat buying!
According to the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) there are 4 basic steps to consider before buying a boat:
1. Determine which category of boat best fits your needs.
Whether it is a single purpose boat or multipurpose, there is a category of boat that can fulfill your dreams on the water.
2. Attend boat shows.
Go to marinas, go boating with your friends and narrow your choice within the category to two or three models. This will allow you to focus on the relative benefits of each model/brand versus the others.
3. Buy the best boat/dealer combination.
Pick the dealer that bends over backwards for you and goes the extra mile to show how you will be taken care of after the sale. If the dealer that stands head and shoulders above the others sells your second favorite boat then buy that boat and get the dealer.
4. Attend a boater's education course.
Learn while you shop and take your spouse and any other family members of age with you.
